Women support around the world

Birth Preparation

In the world with so much information, gadgets and contradictions - it can be hard to tune in to the intuition and hear what feels right in the moment. And when it comes to something as natural as childbirth - you can't afford to be disconnected with yourself. So my role in your birth preparation is to connect you to the inner knowledge, to let the nature and your body take over and you have the most positive, calm birth.

About birth preparation with me.

As a birth doula, I've seen how not understanding childbirth process can make it quickly become overly managed, leaving women feeling out of control. I also saw firsthand how knowing too much can build up fears and interfere with getting into the right mindset to support the natural birth process. That's why I have an individual approach for women I work with to make sure they addressed their fears and doubts, while receiving every bit of knowledge they needs to feel confident, calm, and ready to let nature take its course. I believe in providing just the right amount of information – enough to empower you without leaving you feel overwhelmed or lost. After all, the best birth experiences happen when your body’s natural hormones take over and your thinking brain gets a well-deserved break.

Here's a glimpse of what we cover in your mentorship:

- Physiology of birth: understand what's happening in your body can help you build trust in yourself and let go of fears you might have accumulated in your lifetime.

- Comfort measures & partner support: help your support team understand more about how to serve you with confidence in your birth.
- Informed decision making and advocacy: learn how to make choices that are right for you and your baby, and how to protect your birth within the maternity system.

- Navigating the maternity system: tips on getting the individualised care you deserve, without feeling like just another number.

- Interventions and options: part of letting go the fears – knowledge is power!

- Birth preferences/plans: craft a birth plan that reflects your desires and priorities, with guidance and support.

- Breastfeeding tips and local resources: arm yourself with essential breastfeeding know-how and connect with local support networks.

- Postpartum care and signposting: navigate the postpartum period with ease, knowing where to find help and support when you need it.

"I can't believe our luck that we found Julia as our doula! She is one of the kindest souls I've met and was super supportive and helpful from the first conversation we had. I had an amazing birth thanks to her and we are so grateful for her support from pregnancy to labour. She made sure we were informed of our choices and went above and beyond to support me and my husband during the birth. If you are considering getting her as a doula, do it - you won't regret it!"
